Can You Pick Which Two Products Are Worth Featuring This Fall? The honest answer is you probably already know one of them Most owners can name their fal...
Most owners can name their fall winner without checking anything. It is the piece that walks out the door in a cool week, the one regulars ask about, the one that sold two sizes fast the last time you dropped it.
That instinct is usually right. The trouble is not picking the first one. It is picking the second, and knowing whether your gut and your actual numbers agree.
We have watched this play out across hundreds of online stores over a decade, more than a billion dollars in ad spend total, and the pattern almost never changes. The first winner is obvious. The second is where money gets left on the table.
You do not need five fall heroes. You need two you can stand fully behind.
Featuring two products means you can go deep on both. More photography, more angles, more scenes, more inventory to back the ad up when it starts working on a Saturday in October.
Spread across six products and each one gets a thin slice of your attention and your stock. That is how stores grow sideways instead of up. Two products, done with conviction, beats six done halfway almost every time.
Your loud winner is the piece the whole season leans on. A flannel, a suede boot, a chunky cardigan, a home candle in a scent that only makes sense when it is cool out.
You know it because it sells without a discount and without much effort. People tag themselves in it. Someone messages "is this still available?" before you have even restocked.
If a product did that last fall, it is your first pick. Do not overthink it. Trust the thing that already earned its spot.
The second product is where owners get it wrong, usually by picking the one they personally like most instead of the one the data quietly points at.
Watch for the small signals. A newer piece where two sizes sold out fast on their own. Something that outperformed everything else in the same collection at a small budget.
A product regulars keep grabbing at the counter even though you have never really talked about it online.
Around 20 percent of your products drive most of your revenue, and your second fall hero is almost always already inside that 20 percent. You just have not noticed it yet because it never made noise.
A product is only worth featuring this fall if you can actually keep it in stock through the season.
We have seen the frustrating version of this more times than we can count. The ad finally clicks on a Friday night in Franklin, orders start coming in, and the hero product runs out of its two best sizes by Sunday. The ad keeps spending on a page that can no longer deliver.
Fifty units or more, you can push hard. Twenty to fifty, feature it but keep an eye on it. Under ten, you are better off waiting for the restock before you put real weight behind it.
Here is the thing nobody tells new store owners. Choosing the two products is not the difficult part of running fall ads. Watching them, all season, is.
Your winner needs someone paying attention when it starts to take off on a Saturday, when your marketing person is out on the lake or your agency is closed until Monday. The product that sold out needs the ad paused before it burns through the weekend spending on something you cannot ship.
That is daily work, and it does not stop for holidays or the Titans game. It is the part that made "run your own ads" feel out of reach for so long.
You can pick your two fall products. You already have most of what you need to do it well, sitting in your own sales history and your own gut.
What you should not have to do is sit inside Ads Manager watching those two products around the clock to make sure the winner keeps getting fed and the sold-out one goes quiet in time. That is what Lenny does. It watches your ads 24/7, tells you in plain English what to push and what to pause, and knows your stock levels so an ad never keeps selling something you ran out of.
That is why we built Agency Long the way we did. You make the call on your two fall heroes, you press one button, and the daily watching is handled, evenings and weekends included. You get to run your own ads without ever learning the platform, and you get your fall back while you are at it.
